6 Arrested 11 Houses ransacked by Moroccan Forces

6 persons arrested and 11 houses ransacked by Moroccan forces after new demonstrations in Smara
Smara (occupied Territories), 30/11/2005(SPS) At least 6 persons were arrested during a big demonstration held on Tuesday in the Tan Tan and Ouad Deheb Avenues in the occupied city of Smara (Western Sahara), in which demonstrators were claiming for the withdrawal of Moroccan forces of occupation from the territory and for Saharawi people's right to self-determination, indicated concordant sources.
Demonstrators lifted SADR's flags in the Ouad Deheb Avenue, chanting slogans addressed to the Moroccan authorities, affirming that "the sole solution to the conflict in Western Sahara is independence", it was indicated.
Moroccan forces of occupation brutally intervened to disperse the demonstrators, ransacking 11 Saharawi houses and arresting 6 persons, at least, mainly Mr. Beidillah Brahim Hamoudi Cheikh Ali, Mr. Nteitich Youcef Heydih Ould Youcef, Mr. Zougham El Ouali Saidi Mahmoud Bahaha, Mr. El Kadiri Mahmoud Said, Mr. Ghali Mansour, and Mr. El Ghasmi Degana Limam.
The families of the arrestees denounced the barbarous intervention against the demonstrators and called for the release of their sons in a sit-in they organised in front of the police station of the city, where the 6 detainees were held.
On their part, Saharawi students of two secondary schools in the occupied capital of Western Sahara, El Aaiun, organised in the same day a demonstration in Maatallah, El Qods, El Khalil and Sidi Mohamed Deddach Streets, claiming for the independence and the immediate withdrawal of Moroccan occupation from the territory.
According to the same sources, the Moroccan forces of repression brutally intervened to disperse the students, it was underlined. (SPS)

Saharawi president visit to Canary Islands

The President of the Republic starts an official visit to the Canary Islands on Tuesday
Las Palmas (Canary Islands), 29/11/2005 (SPS) The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, started an official visit to the Canary Islands, on Tuesday, during which he will meet with the President of the Canaries' autonomous Government, Adan Martin, and with representatives of the different islands, according to press agencies.
The objective of this visit, which will lead the President to the Islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, to inform them on the situation of the Morocco-Saharawi conflict, and as another stage of the Saharawi leader's visit to many Spanish autonomous communities and regions (Balearic Islands, Basque Country and Madrid), the same sources added.
"This complete visit aims at deepening the excellent relations traditionally maintained between our peoples, Canarian and Saharawi, their representatives and Governments, concretised in a wide collaboration, constant meetings and permanent dialogue during the last decades", according to a press release publicised b Polisario Front, quoted by Spanish Press Agency, Europa press.
Mr. Abdelaziz is accompanied with a delegation composed of Mr. Salek Baba Hacenna, Minister for Cooperation, Mr. Mhamed Khadad, Saharawi Coordinator with the Minurso and Mr. Brahim Ghali, Polisario Front's Representative to Spain, the same sources added. (SPS)

The Saharawi Parliament celebrates its 30 Anniversary

Saharawi National Council celebrate its 30th anniversary
Aousserd (Saharawi refugee camps), 29/11/2005(SPS) Saharawi National Council (Parliament) celebrated on Monday in the wilaya of Aousserd, its 30th anniversary under the presidency of the Saharawi Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar.
All national authorities, new and former members of the Saharawi National Council, national and foregn guests attended this celebration to which the families of former members of the Council who died since its creation 30 years ago.
Speaking before the participants, Mr. Mahfoud Ali Beiba, current President of the Council, gave a chronology of the stages of the activities of his body since its creation in 1975.
The President of the Parliament stressed the need to make of this institution, "a body for the cooperation and complementarity between all national institutions".
On another hand, he paid tribute to the Saharawi resistance in the occupied territories, calling to its moral and material support underlining that it is "one of the means of struggle Saharawi people count with for the liberation of its territory from the Moroccan occupation".
M. Ahmed baba Ahmed Miské, one of the eleven former Presidents of the Parliament congratulated the institution, in his speech, for its achievement despite of the conditions and circumstances of work, hoping for a better development for this body and freedom and independence for the Saharawi people.
Four other interventions followed, in particular one on behalf of Algerian Parliament, another on behalf of the Association ANARASD. (SPS)

SADR's president asks about the health of the Algerian president

The President of the Republic asks about the state of health of his Algerian counterpart
Chahid El Hafed, 28/11/2005(SPS The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, asked Monday about the state of health of his Algerian counterpart, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in a phone call he had with Algerian Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahya, indicated a Saharawi official source.
Mr. Ouyahya, "reassured me on the state of health of Mr. Bouteflika", the President of the Republic underlined to SPS during a phone call. Concerned with the state of health of his Algerian counterpart, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz wished him good health and quick recuperation.
The Head of the State expressed to Mr. Ouyahya, the best wishes on behalf of the Saharawi Government and people to the Algerian people, whishing them peace and prosperity under the leadership of Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika.(SPS)
